Breaking Stereotypes: Luxe MJ, a cannabis business redefining experiences
Miss Schultz, has taken a bold step in becoming a trailblazer in the cannabis industry with Luxe MJ. As the proud owner of this groundbreaking business, Monet is breaking barriers and challenging stereotypes associated with a woman being in the cannabis business. Her vision goes beyond selling products; she aims to create an inclusive space for education, community, and relaxation.
“It was time for me to create what I have always wanted to see in the cannabis industry which, were products that represented my type of user…so the brand creates discreet luxurious products…you can have it in your bedroom and the boardroom, you can have these things sitting on your vanity or coffee table and it won’t necessarily sound the alarm as a cannabis product. You can even have it at corporate retreats because there are more and more entities that are using cannabis as part of team building.”
An Experience-Based Retreat Like No Other
Luxe MJ doesn’t just stop at providing cannabis-related products; it goes a step further by offering immersive experience-based retreats. The retreats are designed to educate participants about the responsible and enjoyable use of marijuana, breaking away from the stigma that has long surrounded the herb.
Miss Schultz believes in creating an environment where people can learn, connect, and appreciate the benefits of cannabis responsibly and legally. She further explained that “these retreats have happened twice in the Summer in Rockaway, particularly because I grew up seeing a lot of my friends and family being criminalized for their usage and it’s just to offer a space that is fun, safe, healthy and joyous where the plant is encouraged and it’s just a different way of engaging.”
Financial Hurdles: The Lack of Funding
One of the primary challenges Monet faces is the scarcity of funding. Despite the growing acceptance of cannabis-related businesses, black entrepreneurs, particularly women, often encounter difficulties accessing capital.
The Mentorship Gap: Navigating the Industry Alone
Another notable challenge is the lack of mentorship opportunities for black women in the cannabis sector so Monet is navigating uncharted waters. She added that mentorship could provide crucial insights, guidance, and a support network, but the scarcity of such opportunities poses an additional hurdle.
Monet emphasizes, “there have been a lot of cannabis entrepreneurs who have existed for a long time but the market has been an underground one for so long, the typical structures of business acutements don’t really exist in this field at this moment and it’s still being built out.”
A Platform for Social Change
As a black woman in the cannabis industry, Monet Schultz is also committed to promoting diversity and inclusivity. Luxe MJ is not only a business venture but a platform for social change, challenging the stereotypes that have marginalized certain communities in the past.
“I want Luxe MJ to symbolize empowerment and diversity in the cannabis industry. We are here to create a space where everyone feels welcome and educated,” Monet expresses.
Outlook: Luxe MJ’s Impact on Cannabis Culture
Monet Schultz believes that Luxe MJ is poised to make a lasting impact on cannabis culture in New York by combining entrepreneurship, education, and community-building, she is setting the stage for a future where the cannabis industry is not only accessible but also inclusive.
