Carter to compete at Bergen Swim Festival
Three-time World medal winner Dylan Carter will splash into action this month, when he competes at the Bergen Swim Festival at the Ado Arena, Bergen, Norway.
The 29-year-old Carter will compete on the opening day of the three-day meet in the men’s 50m butterfly and, on final day, he will compete in the men’s 50m free-style.
It will be the first competition for Carter since he last competed on home soil at the National Age-Group Long Course Championships, where he won the 50m butterfly in 23.34 and the 50m freestyle in 22.09.
Carter is also preparing for the World Championships in Singapore, having clocked a qualifying time of 21.90 in 50m freestyle at the last Carifta, other top swimmers from the Netherlands, Sweden, Hungary, and Australia will be lurking among the field.
In the 50m freestyle, Carter is expected to face competition from multi-Olympic medalist Kyle Chalmers, along with Seamn Niewold, Kenzo Simons, Nyls Korstanje and Egyptian Sameh Elaraby Abdel-Rahman.
Carter will face off with Korstanje, Niewold and Abdel-Rahman for glory in the 50m butterfly.
Last December, Carter competed at the World Aquatics Championship; however, he missed out on securing precious silverware.
This was after Carter had a ninth-placed finish overall in the men’s 50m butterfly in 22.16 seconds to miss out on a spot in the eight-man final after he qualified for the semifinals as the joint seventh-fastest qualifier in 22.18, the same time as host swimmer Szebasztian Sazbo and was also ninth in the men’s 50m freestyle in 20.82 seconds.
Carter also qualified for the 100m freestyle semifinal in 46.63 seconds with Lithuania’s Tomas Navikonis; however, the T&T swimmer opted to scratch the semifinals to focus on the 50m freestyle, and he also opted out of the 50m backstroke.
