Celebrate Juneteenth 2025: A Week of Learning, Lifting, and Legacy | June 12–19
The 16th Annual Juneteenth Festival Summit NYC 2025, under the theme “Educating, Empowering, Entertaining,” has unveiled a three-day celebration of free events from June 12-19.
Known as Freedom Day, a celebration marking the end of slavery in the United States, this year’s festival and concert will be held on June 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Pleasant Hill City Hall, 100 Gregory Lane, Brooklyn.
According to Juneteenthny.com, Juneteenth is the oldest national festival commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, announcing that the Civil War had ended and that enslaved people were now free.
June 19, known as Juneteenth, is a celebration of Black independence and the long-awaited moment when freedom became a reality. It will be observed in person and virtually at various locations in NYC.
Thursday, June 12, at 6 p.m., the Black Kings Celebration will be held at Major Owens Center.
This will be followed by a June 14 Family Day Festival, Parade, Fashion Show, and Showcase at Linden Park/Gershwin Park. The fun begins at 8:30 a.m.
A Juneteenth Family Fun Day Festival on Friday, June 19, at 9 a.m. will unite thousands of NYC attendees for a vibrant celebration of culture with music, dance, poetry, history, vendors, and family-friendly activities.
This event caters to families of all types, offering a space to experience joy and unity.
The organization invites celebrants to join it for a meaningful experience filled with education, empowerment, and entertainment as it celebrates Black Independence Day.
Brooklyn’s Juneteenth Festival will occur on June 19, from noon to 7 p.m., at Prospect Park’s Nethermead (F/G train to 7th Av, 10-minute walk). This free event will feature live R&B and hip-hop performances with local bands and DJs on two stages.
The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem hosts a Juneteenth program on June 19 from noon to 6 p.m. (A/C/B to 135 St, 3-minute walk). This free event at 515 Malcolm X Blvd. offers panel discussions on Black history, film screenings, and art exhibits showcasing African American artists.
A small marketplace will sell books and prints; light refreshments like sandwiches are available.
Talent, food, community, an art project, a fashion show, an award dinner, and more will bring together the community for an enjoyable celebration.
The 32nd Annual Juneteenth celebration will be held on June 14. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a street fair and parade.
The event will be held at 116th Street (bet) Malcolm X Blvd and 5th Avenue in Harlem. The Juneteenth Committee of Malcolm Shabazz is sponsoring it.
Staten Island Community Alliance will host a 5th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival Family Reunion on June 19, from noon – 7 p.m., at Snug Harbor, 1000 Richmond Terrace.
History, live entertainment, a small business market, raffles, family games, a kids’ zone, free museum passes, a step show, and painting with Soul will celebrate the occasion.
Juneteenth Community Celebration will offer free entry to The Strong Museum at 1 Manhattan Square, Rochester, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A Juneteenth Jubilee White Party Awards & Celebration will be held on June 19 at the Eastville Community Historical Society, 139 Hampton St. Sag Harbor, at 6 p.m.
Juneteenth: Seneca Village, in partnership with NYC Parks, invites celebrants to Central Park Conservancy for live music and poetry honoring the history of this 19th-century free Black community. The family event will be held on June 19 from 12:30 p.m.
