Guyana government delegation to participate in Labor Day festivities in Brooklyn
A Guyana government delegation is expected to arrive in New York, sometime soon to participate in the Labor Day festivities, and celebration of the 57th Annual West Indian American Day Carnival parade on Eastern Parkway, Monday, Sept. 2.
According to a recent zoom meeting, that included Consul General to New York Michael E. Brotherson, and Fazal Yussuff advisor on Investment and Diaspora Affairs, Guyana Consulate, and members of the diaspora, the elected officials will attend the Monday, Sept. 2, Breakfast Morning, organized by the WIADCA, the organizing body of the Labor Day Carnival, set to be held at the starting route of the parade, East New York, and Buffalo avenues, Brooklyn.
It was disclosed that the elected officials, will collaborate with Freedom Entertainment founder, Marlon Jacobs, leader of NOMADS Costume band, along with Soca Monarch, Adrian Dutchin, and Chutney recording artist, Terry Gajrj.
The group will join the music truck as part of the float parade along Eastern Parkway. Members of the group are also expected to showcase the government’s slogan “One Guyana,” banner, a unity rallying call that President Irfaan Ali, has been promoting since the PPP/C government took up office in 2020.
Additionally, the government officials will attend the Annual Folk Festival on Sept. 1, as part of a week-long activities to promote the Republic to the world.
President Ali, who is expected to address the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, scheduled to commence on Sept. 10, will hopefully, also host a diaspora meet and greet in New York.
