Masicka sets sights on Reggae Sumfest
After delivering back-to-back electrifying performances at BRT Weekend in the US and the legendary Wireless Festival in the UK, dancehall heavyweight Masicka was set to bring the same high energy to the Reggae Sumfest stage as he made his highly anticipated return to the festival last weekend.
“His global dominance continues to rise following a show-stopping performance at Bounty Killer’s US return concert at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center, and special guest performance at Vybz Kartel’s massive Atlanta show, cementing his status as one of dancehall’s most in-demand artists,” Ronnie Tomlinson, a Jamaican-born entertainment publicist, told Caribbean Life.
“Now recognized as the new face of Reggae on Apple Music, Masicka is carving out a distinct space at the intersection of raw dancehall energy and lyrical finesse,” added the New York-based Destine Media CEO.
Tomlinson said Masicka’s single “Mute” continues to dominate playlists, while “Rich Sex”, produced by Rvssian on the Story Book Riddim, has garnered significant industry recognition. The track was recently named one of Billboard Magazine’s June Reggae/Dancehall Fresh Picks.
Masicka hoped to bring “the same flame to the stage” at Reggae Sumfest.
With hit records, international recognition, and a string of high-impact performances behind him, Tomlinson said that Masicka’s return to Reggae Sumfest was primed to be one of the festival’s most unforgettable moments of 2025.
