Mikey Spice billed for big performances in New York
Music lovers in Brooklyn and Long Island are in for two nights of top-quality entertainment when singer Mikey Spice performs in the Big Apple on Oct. 11 — first at the Crown Hill Theatre in Brooklyn and then at the Prestige Palace in Freeport, Long Island, the next day.
Event promoter Andrea Bullens of Bullseye Marketing is upbeat about both events, telling Caribbean Life on Sept. 1 that the Crown Hill Theatre will highlight Spice not only as a singer but as a multi-instrumentalist and music producer.
“People know Mikey as the voice behind ‘Practice What You Preach,’ but what many don’t know is that he’s also a phenomenal musician,” she said.
“He isn’t just a vocalist, he’s a beast on instruments being able to play the guitar, bass, drums and piano,” added Bullens, stating that Spice will join guest performers Lady G and World of Girl onstage, “not just singing but playing along with them.”
“It’s going to be different from your average reggae show,” she continued.
In his most recent release, Spice pushes the boundaries of reggae and country on Money Talk, a reimagining of Neil Diamond’s 1979 country-pop gem “Forever in Blue Jeans.”
The song topped the Clinton Lindsay’s Top 30 Chart in New York and rose to #2 on Richie B’s Jamaica Music Countdown Chart.
“I don’t just choose songs randomly. I choose songs out of the vault that have some impact,” Spice said.
Following the Brooklyn event, Mikey will head to Freeport for an event billed “Up Close & Personal” at the Prestige Palace, where Bullens said he will “dive deeper into his vast catalogue of popular songs.
“If you go to both shows, you’ll get two completely different experiences,” she said.
