ODI Showdown
Openers Amy Jones and Tammy Beaumont scored centuries for the second straight match as England Women defeated West Indies Women by 143 runs in the second One-Day International at Grace Road in England.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat, Player-of-the-Match Jones smacked a spectacular 129 from just 98 balls, while Beaumont made 106, which helped England to their sixth-highest ODI total of 366 for six from their 50 overs.
Chasing 367 was difficult for the West Indies, especially as they were without their leading run scorer and captain, Hayley Matthews, who was out with a shoulder injury sustained in the opening ODI, and hard-hitting opener Qiana Joseph due to illness.
Debutant Realeanna Grimmond, opening in place of Matthews, scored an impressive half-century, and Jannillea Glasgow smacked 44, but it wasn’t enough as the visitors were dismissed for 223 in 45.4 overs.
The result gave England a 2-0 lead in the three-matches-series.
England Women raced to 70 without loss after just five overs, with openers Jones and Beaumont hitting 13 boundaries.
Jones got her half-century off 41 balls, with a boundary off spinner Afy Fletcher carrying England past 100 in the seventh over.
Beaumont eventually got to her half-century off 64 balls, and in the next over, Jones smacked Karishma Ramharack for four to reach her century off 76 balls.

Beaumont made her century by hitting Ramharack for three boundaries off consecutive balls in the 38th over, and England scored 261 for 1.
Emma Lamof came in to score 55 off 45 balls during a 71-run partnership with Beaumont. But Ramharack then dismissed Beaumont, Aliyah Alleyne accounted for captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, and Glasgow got the wicket of Lamb to reduce England to 318 for 4.
Sophia Dunkley smashed 31 from 19 balls to ensure England posted a formidable total.
Alleyne, with 2-52, and Ramharack (2-57) were the West Indies’ best bowlers.
Windies Women started their run chase positively, with Grimmond and Zaida James adding 37 runs.
However, Lauren Bell caught James for 19, and Linsey Smith caught stand-in captain Shemaine Campbelle for 6 off 23 balls, making it 61 for two in the 15th over.
Grimmond brought up her maiden ODI half-century off 64 balls, but two overs later, she was caught for 53, leaving the Windies 90 for 3 in the 23rd over.
Stafanie Taylor made 20 before Alice Capsey dismissed her, and any hope of victory ended when they lost the wickets of Glasgow, Shabika Gajnabi, and Aliyah Alleyne in the space of seven balls as they slumped to 154 for 7.
Cherry-Ann Fraser (24), Claxton (18), and Ramharack, unbeaten 15, were insufficient as the result was decided.
England’s best bowlers were Capsey, with 3-41, Smith, 2-27, and Filer, 2- 44.
