Trinbago Progressive Association, USA pays tribute to 13 community advocates
The Trinbago Progressive Association of the USA, Inc. hosted its Annual Scholarship & Luncheon Award event on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at the Glen Terrace Caterer, Brooklyn, New York.
At this event, TPA paid tribute to 13 community advocates, whose careers are predominantly in healthcare and they still found the time to volunteer within the community and by extension in their native land.
The Larghi Foundation headed by Janet Larghi, awarded Joy-Ann Sanderson, who was on her way to begin an internship program in Paris. Ms. Sanderson expressed her gratitude as the check came at an opportune time.
Angela Cooper, president of the association, said “Our honorees continue to rally behind our mission in an effort to build an equitable and sustainable community health informatic system and that is fueled through volunteerism. I believe all volunteers can gain valuable and relevant insight through volunteering to make a difference in our communities.” She urged the guest to be a part of TPA’s journey as she rolled out the mandate for the progression of the association.
Steven Wells, DPM and our mission’s podiatrist, spoke of the impact made at our previous healthcare mission in Trinidad & Tobago.
Daniel Beckles M.D. TPA’s Board Chair & Chief Medical Director gave an educational and insightful report on Wellness Redefined. He stressed on the Blue Zone. Beckles said, “We can all live to be 100 years old.” He gave scientific data about having zero risk factor and spoke of the manner in which we should eat.
