Windies Strikes Back
Standout performances from Jayden Seales, Roston Chase, and Sherfane Rutherford helped West Indies claim a crucial five-wicket win via the Duckworth/Lewis/Stern method against Pakistan in the second One-Day International at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, leveling the three-match series 1-1.
Seales grabbed three wickets to lead an impressive bowling display, but heavy showers eventually ended Pakistan’s innings after just 37 overs with the score at 171 for seven.
Although the visitors took three early wickets, Player-of-the-Match Chase finished one run short of a half century, Rutherford scored 45, and the Windies, who set a revised target of 181 in 35 overs, reached 184 for 5 with 10 balls to spare.

But Seales struck twice in his fifth over, first he had Ayub caught at first slip by Justin Greaves for 23, and then bowled Babar Azam for a three-ball duck.
With the first rain interruption, Pakistan had stumbled on 60 for 2 in 16 overs.
Soon after the hour-long break, Jediah Blades caught Shafique for 26, and then Gudakesh Motie trapped captain Mohammad Rizwan LBW for 16. At this point, Pakistan had slumped to 88 for 4 in the 22nd over.
Hussain Talat tried to revive the innings, scoring 31 off 32 balls, but was caught by wicketkeeper Shai Hope off Chase, and Salma Agha went after, caught off Shamar Joseph without a run added. Pakistan was at 114 for 6.
Hasan Nawaz scored an unbeaten 36 off 30 balls with 3 sixes, and Shaheen Afridi, on 11 not out, raised the visitors’ total until the rains came again, abruptly stopping their innings.
Seales was the West Indies’ best bowler with 3-23 from his 7 overs.
In reply, the West Indies needed to score a little over 5 runs an over, but found themselves in trouble after fast bowler Hasan Ali had Brandon King and Evin Lewis caught with just 12 runs on the board.
Keacy Carty made only 16 runs off 42 balls before spinner Abrar Ahmed bowled him and left the Windies on 48 for 3 in the 13th over.
Hope and Rutherford then came together in a 54-run partnership for the fourth wicket to put the home side back in the contest.
Rutherford carried the West Indies past the 100 mark in the 18th over that went for 20 runs, which spinner Salma Agha bowled.
Pakistan fought back, with Mohammad Nawaz having Hope stumped for 32 off 35 balls, while Rutherford was out for 45 off 33 balls off the same bowler, as the home side slipped to 107 for 5.
Chase then joined Justin Greaves to share an unbroken stand of 77 off 72 balls to carry their side to victory.
Mohammad Nawaz (2-17) and Ali (2-35) took 2 wickets apiece for Pakistan.
The win took West Indies past Bangladesh into ninth position in the ICC ODI rankings, the final automatic qualification spot for the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
